moll-eh asked: How do you get photo passes for gigs?:) x
You need to be with a publication of some sort. Maybe try starting up your own website or asking to shoot for some local magazines/wesbites to your area? :-) xx
Anonymous asked: Do you like the strypes gig? :)
I LOVED it! I went to Leeds and Sheffield to the photos. :-) come off anon ;)
Anonymous asked: What type of camera do you use?
I use a canon 7D with the 28-70 2.8 L Lens :-) if it’s a sound desk shoot then ill use my Olympus E510 with 300mm lens.
Anonymous asked: You enjoyed the concert of 5 Seconds Of Summer? :) Xx

tropicaluust asked: Hi sorry quick question im a photography student and love your Tumblr page the amount of artists you have had the privilege of photographing is insane! I was just wondering how you got into it
Well first of all i’d like to say a MASSIVE thank you for asking me this and being interested in the work I do :’)
I first started off buying a starter D-SLR camera with a cheap kit lens and got in touch with a local website that covered music events around my area. So I started off shooting small bands in pubs and clubs. I then took it into my own hands to try for something a little bigger and this turned out to be a Pink Floyd tribute act at my local city hall. Their PR was lovely to me and gave me a pass. This was my foot in the door and I have kept a good relationship with this PR ever since (that was back in 2011).
I carried on freelancing for this small website, applying for passes off my own back through different PR companies and also applying for review tickets so the website could send a reviewer down as well. Getting to know the PR’s better and on a more personal basis gives you that bond of trust between you and I then could practically get a pass for whatever (unless the band were so far up their own asses they didn’t allow press!)
In 2012 I got a phone call from a man who ran a bigger website in Sheffield and I went on board with them as press coordinator sorting out passes not only for myself but for other freelance photographers that worked for us. Again this gave me more access into the world of PR’s :-) I upgraded my kit (I know shoot Canon 7D with the 28-70 F/2.8 L Lens - Instead of the old Olympus with the kit lens).
Recently I have been working directly with bands management’s and freelancing for myself. Yesterday I got the good news that I got in with a picture agency that is based in London so I will be freelancing for them also!
It seriously means a lot to me you took the time to look at my blog and ask me this :-) xx
